“THEY TALK TO
each other, you know,” said Rudyard Pinkley. “They’re probably talking right now.”
Rudyard was sitting with his cousins Doodlebug and Dandelion on a big blanket in the neighborhood arboretum. Doodlebug and Dandelion stared at Rudyard.
“Who talks to each other?” Dandelion asked.
“Our pets,” Rudyard replied, pointing to the animals. Nearby, his cat Moth and Doodlebug and Dandelion’s little Abyssinian Choo-Choo frolicked together with their dog Don’t. Kazoo, their pygmy owl, was riding Don’t’s back, wings outstretched like a rodeo star.
Doodlebug and Dandelion watched the pets. “How do you know?” Doodlebug asked.
“I just do,” Rudyard said. “It’s like their minds hear each other.”
“That’s called telepathy,” Dandelion informed him, very interested in this topic. “Being able to communicate mentally.”
