“IT’S TOO LATE, Mom. We made the reservation two months ago,” Dandelion Pinkley whined, “so he can’t come!” “Yeah, we got the last three horses for today,” Dandelion’s brother, Doodlebug, agreed. “He can’t!” “Well, darlings, Paul’s your cousin, and he begged, so he’s coming along,” Mrs. Pinkley said. “I’m sure Shady Willow Stables can find a horse for him, too.” Everyone knew that Paul, known as Punky, could be bossy and annoying. But Rudyard, Doodlebug and Dandelion’s cousin from another branch of the Pinkley family, said nothing. He’d been invited on the trail ride—his first ever—and he was excited! “Well, don’t blame us if Punky ruins everything,” Dandelion pouted as they headed off.
