An Unusual Job At the start of her eight-day hike, Sara Dykman packs everything she needs to live and work in the Sierra Nevada mountains in California. Sara is a biologist who works for the United States Forest Service. Her job is to count all the tadpoles and adult amphibians she sees. Pollution, climate change, and habitat destruction affect all creatures, but amphibians—like frogs and toads—often feel the impact earlier than other animals.
