THE SOLOMON ISLANDS — IT’S WHERE DIVERS STILL CAN BE DIVERS. Guadalcanal, Ghizo and New Georgia are such exotic names when you are living in Europe. The Solomon Islands is a nation of six major islands and hundreds of smaller ones situated southeast of Papua New Guinea. This story is about Munda, a very remote village in the Solomons, but such a nice place for wonderful dives. Jean-Marc Claes (NAUI 40992) and I were fascinated by these remote islands, so we finally made the trip, which ended in an old, small and too-hot Twin Otter airplane flying from Honiara, the capital, to Munda, on the island of New Georgia. It was a scenic flight over hundreds of small islands, villages and endless reefs surrounded by a “50 shades of blue”…
