Time flies, and nowhere is this more apparent than in an open-water scuba class. As an instructor, you are tasked with teaching a great deal of critical knowledge to students over a very short time. Courses are often shortened to compete for the students’ time and attention, and divers are often trained in how to dive safely as quickly as possible, with the expectation that they will refine their skills after certification. Long gone are the days when scuba students participated in multimonth introductory courses requiring scores of pool laps, elaborate gear-removal scenarios, and course graduates becoming something akin to frogmen.
