“Dive Safety Through Education” has been NAUI’s motto since its inception. Institutions like colleges and universities have the primary mission of education. When a college or university has a diving program, becoming affiliated with NAUI is a logical step that many institutions take. There are many colleges, universities and other specialized educational programs that have become NAUI affiliates, both domestically and internationally. Each diving program varies in the courses and number of certifications offered.
Some programs offer the NAUI Scuba Diver certification as a noncredit or continuing education course. Others offer it as a physical education credit. Some provide multiple courses in addition to the entry-level Scuba Diver course.
