Triangle Borea BR03

Designed in France, Triangle’s BR03 speakers prove impressive contenders, with usefully high sensitivity.

We travel now over the English Channel – or la Manche as they’d call it on the other side – to these French-designed standmounts from Triangle, a company of some 40 years standing, located in the ancient town of Soissons, halfway between Paris and the Belgian border. Triangle builds many of its speakers entirely in France, including drivers, of which its famous horn-loaded tweeter, with its distinctive gold-coloured phase plug as used on the company’s top Magellan, is best-known. But at this price local production is near impossible, so here Triangle leverages the cost advantages of production in China. The BR03 uses a new ‘EFS’ tweeter design from Triangle, short for ‘Efficient Flow System’. Triangle has partially horn-loaded the tweeter’s 25mm silk dome, which improves its efficiency and reduces baffle/grille reflections.…
