How do we tune to Auracast?

A new Bluetooth technology demonstrates its chops and answers some key questions.

feature Auracast Bluetooth LE is rising as the new low-energy version of the ‘Classic Bluetooth’ wireless technology, and in our group of ‘true wireless’ earbuds this issue we have seen some of the first products to support the new standard. For now, devices will support both Classic Bluetooth and Bluetooth LE, with a gradual handover to the new version. LE is more efficient, if generally limited to lower bit rates for audio, although the key codec designers from Fraunhofer have promised us, back in issue #355, that it will sound great! Compared to a default SBC Bluetooth stream, we'd hope that to be true. Against higher-level third-party codecs hitting CD quality, that remains to be seen.
