news Two new products from Stax, sold separately though they could be certainly be paired together. First is the new SR-X1 earspeaker (left), priced at $1100, following in the footsteps of the previous SR-1 and the SR-X but having newly-engineered circular push-pull electrostatic drivers with precision-etched electrodes promising a frequency response down to 7Hz and up to 41kHz (no envelope stated). They are housed in open enclosures with a meticulously-crafted back slit structure, while comfort is assured by genuine sheepskin leather for all skin contact areas. Stax earspeakers require special drivers to supply their high (580V) bias voltage, and that's the purpose of the second release, the new SRM-270S driver unit (below) priced at $960.
