Just as we were going to press last month, we learned that longtime Gospel music promoter, Billy Hudson, had passed away at the age of 86. We only had room to mention his passing in the Noteworthy section of the October issue, but I wanted to take a closer look this month. Billy Hudson spent his entire life serving others. Billy was born in Westville, Florida. He graduated from Bonifay High School, where he was awarded All Conference in sports. In 1957, he joined the U.S. Navy, married his high school sweetheart, Betty, and moved to Tallahassee. He eventually joined the Tallahassee Police Department, where he was voted one of the Top Ten police officers in America in 1971. He retired as Police Sergeant after more than 26 years.
