Be Prepared To Stand By Yourself

At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me; I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge. Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear; and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.—2 Timothy 4:16-17

If you stand for the Lord, be prepared to stand by yourself. It’s easy to stand for the Lord when people are clapping for you and nodding their heads in agreement. It’s easy to be on the Lord’s side when you’re on everybody’s favorite team. It’s a lot harder to stand for the truth of God’s Word when no one wants to hear it and it ends up costing you relationships, livelihood, health, and money. You can’t make people do right, and you can’t make anyone stick by your side when things get hard. The Lord knows we all would if we could.
