My dad was fond of wordplay and stating things in a humorous way. For instance, if I made an outlandish claim, he would counter with, “I’ve told you a million times to never exaggerate!” If we were eating out and the food wasn’t very good, he might say, “Well, the food may not be very good but at least there’s a lot of it.” If we were traveling somewhere but somehow ended up going the wrong way he’d say, “Well, we may be heading in the wrong direction, but at least we’re making good time.” And he loved to entertain little kids with his recitation of “Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.” I definitely inherited my dad’s love of words and stating things in a way to bring a smile.…
