I’ve always felt that lead singer Jim Wesson had one of the most easy-to-listen-to voices Gospel music has ever had. This Texas native was born Sep. 9, 1943. He first came upon the full-time Gospel music scene in 1962 with The Chuck Wagon Gang. His initial stint with this iconic group lasted only about a year because, in 1963, Ed Hill and his Prophets Quartet found themselves in need of a lead singer when the group’s original lead singer left to take up duties with The Rebels. Wesson agreed to fill that void, although I feel his heart was really with the Chucks. When The Prophets acquired song stylist Roy McNeal in 1963, Wesson returned to the Chucks and he stayed until 2002, albeit with a break or two from the group…
