I’ve heard it said many times regarding the music industry: “It always starts with the song.” If that is true, then in a practical sense, it also starts with the songwriter—and one of our favorites in Southern Gospel is Jim Brady.
The son of an evangelist, Jim grew up in a musical family based out of Houston, Texas. Known as The Brady Family, Jim—along with his parents and seven siblings—performed songs made popular by other artists until he began to write at age 14. Soon, Jim was writing much of what his family performed.
In 1993, the young songwriter married Melissa Shuler and later that year, began singing with his wife and father-in-law in a trio called The Shulers.
