I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. —2 Timothy 4:7 For four years I’ve imagined Paul slumped over a piece of parchment in a dark, damp prison cell writing letters to his young protégé, Timothy. While he still has time, Paul is trying desperately to impart to Timothy each nugget of wisdom he can remember. He never knows exactly when the guards will come, but he knows he doesn’t have much time. I wonder if he woke up at night in those last few weeks and days, thinking of “one more thing” he wanted to tell Timothy.
