Here is something interesting that you may have never known before about songwriters: often, we are writing to our own hearts. That has been true of me for many years with songs such as “Say Amen,” “The God I Know,” and “Even Me.” But recently, I discovered that the same is true regarding many of my favorite songs penned by Jon Mohr. A gifted musician and songwriter, Jon grew up in Tucson, Arizona, and while attending college, he met a fellow student named Steve Green. In time, Steve would become a background singer for The Bill Gaither Trio. In 1981, when Bill put together a quartet which was then called The New Gaither Vocal Band, Steve became the tenor.
