At Six Senses Vana, holistic therapies, a majestic setting, and modern and ancient wisdom converge for a life-altering retreat, writes Stephanie Zubiri.

During the five-hour-plus drive from Delhi to Six Senses Vana in India’s far north, there’s no break in the urban sprawl. A sharp left turn into Vana, however, transports you to a peaceful haven. The 8.5-hectare property, named after the Sanskrit word for forest, is enveloped in dense vegetation and towering Sal trees. It’s home to monkeys, birds, butterflies and lush foliage – the perfect setting for a holistic body, mind and spirit overhaul. The contrast between the outside world and this sanctuary is striking.
