Long daylight hours through June make for some challenging stalking conditions, and Chris looks back at the start of his guiding career

Chris Dalton is a professional stalker and a regular presenter on The Shooting Show In beekeeping terms, we are entering a period referred to as the ‘June gap’, which references the fact that this month honeybees can struggle to find nectar and we must keep an eye on the colonies. This will seem strange to many people when the countryside appears awash with flowers, and so there should be an abundance of nectar, but look closer. June marks the beginning of the summer season when the spring flowering plants and trees shed their blooms, now pollinated, and are starting to form seeds, but the main flow of summer-flowering flora has yet to begin.
