Could a small footstool take away constipation woes? Researchers say yes. In a recent US study published in the Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology, it was found that participants who typically strained during bowel movements or had difficulty completely emptying their bowels felt better after four weeks of using a toilet stool. A stunning 90 per cent reported less straining while 71 per cent spent less time on the toilet. Having a stool under the feet improves your position since your body is meant to be squatting while doing your number two. Problems with bowel movements can cause constipation and haemorrhoids – painful conditions to endure.
