Because while Discovery’s final season is far from the best Trek ever, it’s a breath of fresh air after season four, which felt like a show begging to be put out of its misery. The psychoanalysis season, in which everyone – even the ship’s computer – went into therapy, and no one could even go for a dump without delivering some great wodge of explanatory backstory.
