Hit the road as Wacky Races returns for a new comic series

WHILE WACKY RACES dates back to 1968, Ivan Cohen is emulating some more recent futuristic Road Warriors as he and artist Mariano Benitez Chapo update Hanna-Barbera’s cartoon car competition in Giant-Size Wacky Races – a new one-shot for Dynamite Entertainment’s Warner Animation line. “Part of what made this a challenge worth facing was thinking about how to make it a 21st century story and bringing something new to the mix,” Cohen tells Red Alert. “So there are new racers, new vehicles and a new context for what the races mean to the non-racers. “Penelope Pitstop is the main character, and our take on her is part classic Wacky Races and a little bit Furiosa.
