How did blowing the Horn of Heroes at the end of last season affect him? Within The Wheel Of Time, there’s this greater sense that there’s a pattern set out for you and that things are predetermined for the characters. I don’t think Mat had envisaged a lot for his future and was silently dealing with that. But when he’s pushed into that discovery, that he’s a leader, it turns his sense of perspective of himself on his head. He has to reevaluate his own sense of worth and what he might actually contribute to the pattern. The character was played by Barney Harris in season one.
