Caribbean rum gaining popularity in Europe, report reveals

The “significant potential” of Caribbean rum in European markets has been revealed in a report by a national trade body. Caribbean Export found an increase in the popularity of rum in the UK, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands over the past few years, with suggestions that there could be a “great opportunity” for rum producers in the region to make a mark in Europe. The report revealed that Caribbean rum played an important part in the growth of UK rum sales in 2019, when the market hit £1 billion in value. Around half of the top 10 rum brands sold in the UK are produced in the Caribbesan, it noted.
