Humans are known to go out of their way to avoid discomfort. There are plenty of valid reasons for sticking to familiarity and coziness, and I'm not here to tell you to eschew those things, because, frankly, comfort rules. Good family and friends, a luxurious bed, routine, your favorite food—there's something quite wonderful about it all. But if you're someone who's looking to grow, or learn more about yourself, here's the truth: you're going to have to make friends with discomfort. They say “Nothing worth doing is easy.” This is a patent lie, because eating cake is easy and so is petting a dog (food and pet intolerances aside, of course); however, there is a little truth to it if you change “worth doing” to “transformative.” Many of the stories…
