Alphabet Soup: Organizations Participating in the Development of UTM

In addition to the FAA and NASA, organizations that are contributing to the development of the document are: ASTM International, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and the Joint Authorities for Rulemaking on Unmanned Systems (JARUS). This work includes input from ASTM International’s Committee on Unmanned Aircraft Systems (F38), focused on standards for remote identification (RID), UAS Service Supplier (USS) interoperability, strategic deconfliction and surveillance services. ANSI’s UAS Standardization Collaborative (UASSC) is supporting the effort by developing a Standardization Roadmap for UAS, while JARUS is responsible for the creation of a work plan to address UTM from a regulatory perspective: including the division of responsibility among participants, oversight and system-wide risk modeling.
