Turns out it’s in Bingley. We visit West Yorkshire to take the temperature of modern motorcycling

BINGLEY, JUST NORTH of Bradford, may be most famous in motorcycling as the home town of TT demigod Ian ‘Hutchy’ Hutchinson, but it also has another, arguably equally significant, biking claim to fame. Within a five-mile radius of the Victorian woollen mill town is a golden triangle like no other in British motorcycling: barely more than a five-mute blat away are three of the largest, most successful motorcycle dealers in the country. Just up the road in Keighley are Colin Appleyard Motorcycles, main dealers for Suzuki, Kawasaki and Yamaha, major players in British bikesport over the past 30 years and with a cross-section of machinery on offer, ranging from Goldwing trikes to Osset electric off-roaders, as diverse as you’ll find anywhere.
