Honda’s Africa Twin is one of 2016’s stars – but how will its adventure credentials stand up to BMW’s F800GS and Triumph’s Tiger 800 XC X on a road (and off-road) trip to Wales?

IT’S BEEN A huge year for Honda’s Africa Twin. In fact, it’s been two huge years. After being revealed to the world in November 2014 as a prototype labelled True Adventure – in truth, a finished machine barely disguised by a thin veneer of meticulously curated mudsplats – Honda then spent a full 12 months ensuing we wouldn’t forget about it with drip-fed teaser videos. When the bike finally arrived in early 2016 there was only one question on everyone’s lips: after all the hype, was it actually any good? To find out RiDE has been running an Africa Twin all year.
