MY CHILDHOOD HOME was a great place to grow up—if you didn’t mind the resident ghost. I don’t think she was happy that our rambunctious family had taken over her house. Each of us experienced eerie happenings. Lights went off and on by themselves, voices and footsteps were heard when no one was there, pictures fell off the wall, and empty glass bottles sitting on the floor would suddenly fall over with a loud crash.
Perhaps some of those events might be blamed on the quirks of an old house with sloping floors and ancient wiring and plumbing.
Then Mom found out that the previous owner had inherited the house when his elderly relative Edna died there. Thereafter, whenever something weird happened in the house, we would yell “Knock it off, Edna!”…
