These are the two things that Ghanaian artist Kwesi Botchway attempts to show in his painting Green Fluffy Coat (2020, acrylic on canvas). From sketching his teachers at school, Botchway has honed his craft, particularly its focus on facial features, developing a style he has coined as ‘Afro-Impressionism’ – French Impressionism meets African realism.
