Just a seven-hour flight from London, America’s capital city is my destination for a whirlwind 48 hours, and while a selfie outside The White House is a must, I’m keen to get to know the city beyond its iconic landmarks. I’m staying at The Morrow Hotel in the hip Union Market area. The huge, light lobby provides a calm oasis, while my oat pillow (selected from the menu earlier) awaits, as do Le Labo toiletries. I opt for dinner at Le Clou, The Morrow’s French restaurant, and order poached seabass with fennel, orange and dill, rounded off with a sublime pot de crème au chocolat.
