HOME CV WHO Located on the River Ouse, three miles from York, Bert & May founder Lee Thornley’s family home reflects his commitment to excellent materials and fine craftsmanship. He lives here with his two daughters, Iris and Lyla, and his partner, Phil. WHAT Originally built in 1650 as a collection of small cottages, the site has now been made into a family home. FIREPLACE The house features natural materials and a raw and simple colour palette, with restored fireplaces and exposed original beams celebrating the beauty of the building’s irregular shapes and features. Bert & May’s reclaimed tiles adorn the hearth in the open-plan kitchen/dining room, which creates a strong focal point in the room.
