I've always been interested in agriculture, architecture and cultivation, and turned this passion into a business in 2000. Harrier Garden Developments, which operates with a small team of specialists, focuses on greenhouse fittings and controlling the greenhouse environment, restoration and optimising the use of glasshouse ranges on estates. We specialise in heating, controls and wiring for glasshouses. Many of them are for the National Trust or located in old walled gardens or country houses. Spring and summer bring a rush of cedar-wood shade restoration; these have been fitted to the outside of Victorian greenhouses for over a hundred years to reduce light intensity and temperature. Made in the traditional way with thin cedar strips, known as lathes, and hand-nailed copper staples, some shades have been neglected for many years but…
