Tradition with a twist

Hunting for interesting antiques and second-hand pieces is one of Christine’s passions. ‘Whether I’m furnishing my own home or working on projects for my clients, my policy is always to look for vintage and second-hand items first, before buying anything new,’ she says. Christine loves scouring Salvation Army charity shops, auction houses and online marketplaces for beautiful pieces of furniture and unusual home accessories. ‘I like to mix old and new together,’ she explains. ‘I don’t want to live in a museum, so I give old things a modern twist. For example, I put bright pink contemporary candles in a very old brass chandelier.’ Her chandelier is, in fact, one of Christine’s favourite finds. ‘I bought it online and it’s perfect for illuminating the kitchen table with a warm glow,’…
