Filled with inherited treasures and second-hand finds, the soulful home of interior designer Christine Hærra is enriched with vibrant colours

When Oslo-based interior designer Christina Hærra bought her rural holiday home in the Finnskogen region of Norway in 2016, it wasn’t only the stunning remote location that appealed to her. ‘This house is where my grandfather grew up,’ she explains. ‘The family connection is partly why I bought it, plus it’s only two hours’ drive from Oslo, so a convenient distance. The house has beautiful scenic views all around too.’ As soon as she got the keys, Christine immediately set about refreshing the tired interior. ‘It was really terrible,’ she recalls. ‘It looked as though a bad party had been taking place there!
