Ward's storied Lake District home shines this season, wrapped in nature's bounty and timeworn pieces

Interiors As Nina and Sam Ward wrap foraged foliage garlands around the impressive porch columns of Eller How House, they can scarcely believe that the property they'd dreamed of owning is finally the home in which they'll be celebrating Christmas. The Regency villa is nestled in 12.5 acres of private gardens and woodland in the Lake District National Park. It was created by master builder Francis Webster of Kendal, who designed the property in a picturesque cottage orné style. On his death in 1827, it was inherited by his son, the renowned architect George Webster, who built a further extension on the house in 1850, adding architectural influences from his travels through Italy, including ornate sculpted heads on the ceilings and carved marble fireplaces.
