The home Captivated by its beautiful old Spanish floor tiles, textured walls and mountain views, Dawn Contreras and her husband Joseph moved into their mid- century ranch-style home in Southern California 20 years ago. The building, relatively plain and simple in appearance, was expanded by 500 square feet to include a family room and a studio for Dawn, along with a kitchen and bathroom remodel.
To add abundant character, they introduced various architectural features, transforming the home from ordinary to extraordinary. 'We included arches, shiplap, exposed brickwork and colour to give it a cosy, old-home feeling with lots of vintage charm,' says Dawn. The studio is largely used to stage the finds Dawn sources at vintage markets, as well as for creating whimsical vignettes for her Instagram account.
