The heart-warming restoration story of musician and teacher Tim Sidford and editor Daniel Botting’s 1858-built Malvern Hills home has unfolded as a happy tale, one that might leave you humming, ‘the hills are alive with the sound of music’.
Perched high on the hillside, with views stretching up to 30 miles on a clear day, the house was originally built as a holiday home for a wealthy businessman. In 1880 an extension was added, complete with intricately carved Libertyesque oak panelling and a ribbed plasterwork ceiling. The style of the house, with its many gables and stone mullion windows, is perhaps best described as ‘Jacobethan’, though, curiously, there are elements of Gothic Revival as well.
