Memorial Days By Geraldine Brooks This memoir, by Horse author Geraldine Brooks, is as much about her late husband and fellow Pulitzer winner, Tony Horwitz, as it is about our discomfort with grief. Three years after his death, Brooks finally allowed herself “the wild wideness of an elaborate, florid, demonstrative grief” on a remote Australian island where she once had wanted to raise their family.
