MUSTANG IN MY WORKSHOP

Back in 2015, when editing another R/C model aircraft magazine, a weighty and very high-quality book crossed my desk. It was titled ‘Spitfire in my Workshop’ and described in great detail the painstaking work that the author, and talented modeller, David Glen had undertaken to produce a fine-scale static model of a Spitfire Mk.1. This model went on to be displayed in the entrance hall at the RAF Museum in Hendon. I remember being entranced by that book, with its in-depth descriptions of many scale details and techniques that could easily be adapted for use when building an R/C scale model, particularly a Spitfire. A Brian Taylor plan was obtained with the usual good intentions, but as with a lot of my scale projects it remains as ‘work in progress’.…
