Preserved Class 58 passed as fit for traffic

The first preserved Class 58 to run under its own power (58023) has been collected from Leicester and moved to the Severn Valley Railway. The move was undertaken on September 14, when 50007 Hercules and 50049 Defiance ran light from Kidderminster to collect the Type 5. It was then returned to Kidderminster in between the two Class 50s. 58023 had undertaken some moves under its own power within the confines of Leicester depot, but not long after its transfer it undertook a light engine test run on the SVR - the first time a Class 58 has moved under its own power for any distance in the UK in over 22 years.
