Unions close to resolution to Scottish strikes

A resolution to the pay dispute at ScotRail and Caledonian Sleeper is in sight, with members of three of the four unions involved voting to accept a revised 2024 offer. Voting ‘yes’ are members at the TSSA, RMT and Unite. As this issue of RAIL went to press, ASLEF’s ballot was due to close on September 25, with the result expected the following week. Details of the offer have not been released, after an agreement between the unions and ScotRail that it would not be shared with the press. All four unions had balloted their members for strikes, after rejecting the Scottish government’s three-year, capped, below-inflation pay offer to April 2027, with 2% in year one and 1% in year two (RAIL 1015).
