GB Railfreight reveals its “game-changing” Class 99

Network GB Railfreight unveiled its new hybrid Class 99 locomotive at InnoTrans in Berlin last week. Developed alongside Beacon Rail and manufacturer Stadler, the Class 99 is designed to reduce emissions by up to 58% per journey compared with traditional diesel locomotives. As a hybrid, it can operate on both electrified and non-electrified sections of the rail network. The introduction of the Class 99 aligns with the UK government’s commitment to becoming a clean energy superpower.
