Lanark and Leven visits are highlights for ‘47’

A Class 47 broke new ground over the weekend of October 5/6, as well as visiting some rare locations for the type, when Locomotive Services Limited 47712 worked a two-day charter to Scotland. The ‘47/7’ - running as scrapped classmates 47711 Greyfriars Bobby on one side and 47709 The Lord Provost on the other - set off from Crewe with LSL’s push-pull ScotRail set, working to Glasgow Queen Street High level. Here the train reversed and then headed to Lanark - thought to be the first ‘47’ on a passenger train to the town for 51 years (pictured).
