£100 million refresh for Victorian wrought iron bridge

Work has begun on a three-year, £100 million refurbishment of the 161-year-old Hungerford Bridge, a vital rail link across the Thames. The Victorian-era wrought iron bridge, which carries trains between Charing Cross and Waterloo, will undergo essential repairs to ensure its long-term future. Network Rail will focus on strengthening the structure, replacing worn parts, and protecting it from corrosion.
