In college, Cathy Perl mutter “couldn't draw my way out of a paper bag.” While she was passionate about art and craft, she decided she wasn't an artist and headed into journalism instead, ignoring her artistic side for years. A chance visit to a quilt show in 1991 changed everything. Cathy dove into quilting, and her writing shifted toward the art form, too. Today, her award-winning quilts are featured in magazines and books, and she's authored a handful of beloved books, including Quilted New York: Celebrate the City with Fabric and Color and Scrap Cities: Joyful Modern ArchitectureInspired Quilts. She was recently featured in the book Painted Pomegranates and Needlepoint Rabbis: How Jews Craft Resilience and Create Community by Jodi Eichler-Levine.
