Pinwheel Burst Pinwheel blocks have been a favorite of quiltmakers from the beginning of time. I love blocks with motion and movement, and nothing says SPIN like a good, old-fashioned pinwheel block. The inner pinwheel of Pinwheel Burst is made even more exciting when surrounded by more triangles creating a frame. Have you ever constructed partial Plying Geese? I call these geese "one-winged.” You will find these units around the center Pinwheel block creating an octagon shape before the final four background corners are added. I love this method as it eliminates extra seam bulk if we were to add the second wing triangle to the Flying Geese units before adding them to the block.
