The Orb’s 2010 collaboration with Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour, Metallic Spheres, has been given a radical remix by producer and Killing Joke bassist Youth and will be released as Metallic Spheres In Colour through Sony Music on September 29. The remix was created partly thanks to the discovery of extra material and the resulting album has a whole new flavour. Says Youth, “We could have just remastered the record, but we found all this new stuff there and we thought, ‘This is an album!’” Youth hasn’t ruled out further work with Gilmour and The Orb. “I’d like to see David back in the studio playing along while [The Orb’s] Alex Paterson is on the decks and make a record like that,” he says. “I’d say the chances are fair…
