BJH’s fourth album gets expanded with new mixes and a 1972 radio concert. Barclay James Harvest had always wanted to make orchestral rock music but by 1972 keeping The Barclay James Harvest Symphony Orchestra together was putting them into debt. Yet holding onto that ambition yielded Baby James Harvest, a stylistically diverse and uneven collection. Guitarist John Lees, bassist Les Holroyd and drummer Mel Pritchard were in Strawberry Studios, Stockport concentrating on the rock songs, while keyboard player Woolly Wolstenholme was preoccupied with recording his solo orchestral song suite, Moonwater, at Abbey Road. On Crazy Over You, a melodic rocker with a sweet guitar hook and a not-so-distant relative of Badfinger, Holroyd stepped up to also play organ and Mellotron.
