One of the quirkiest yet most enjoyable events in the calendar, Eppyfest is now well established in its home, the charming Smokey Joe’s Diner in the centre of Cheltenham. Indeed, such is the eclectic nature of the event that it must pain amiable host Ian Fairholm to hear his beloved festival referred to repeatedly as a prog event, although it’s certainly progressive in spirit.
This year’s event is split unofficially into rock and folk days and opens with a delightful set of Canterbury-laced prog from Zopp. They’re certainly developing as a live unit, with Ashley Raynor’s mobile bass work especially impressive. It’s an intense but rewarding hour.
