Norwegian guitarist goes the extra (Royal) mile on hymn to his favourite city. Guitarist Anders Buaas has played with numerous bands in his native Norway, and organises the guitar festival in his hometown of Larvik, which attracts the likes of Guthrie Govan and Steve Vai. In 2019 Buaas added to his canon with the ambitious, historically literate folk/rock trilogy The Witches Of Finnmark II, and last year’s Tarot was his assured and eclectic shuffle through that most prog-friendly deck of cards. On The Edinburgh Suite he takes two 20-minute instrumental strolls through his favourite city. Pt.1 Old Town rings with jaunty acoustic guitars, downhome banjo and celtic, fusion, country and old-school prog elements.
